About Dora
🐾
I’m Dora, the heart behind Vet Nurse Dora’s Home Visits.
Over the years, I’ve worked in many veterinary clinics across the Coast, caring for animals from all walks of life, each with their own personality, fears, quirks, and little ways of communicating. My journey began in Sydney, where I worked alongside an incredible veterinarian and animal behaviourist who truly opened my eyes to the emotional world of animals. They taught me that pets are constantly speaking to us through body language, behaviour, energy, and trust. That experience shaped the nurse I am today.
While working with beautiful veterinary teams, I completed my Fear Free certification, developing gentle handling techniques designed to reduce stress, fear, and anxiety during care. I believe veterinary nursing should never feel rushed or overwhelming. Sometimes the quietest approach says the most. 🌿
My passion for animals also led me into wildlife rescue volunteering, where I helped care for injured and vulnerable native animals. Wildlife work teaches patience, observation, resilience, and deep respect for nature’s delicate balance. Tiny paws, sharp beaks, frightened eyes, and second chances became part of my everyday life.
Today, through Vet Nurse Dora’s Home Visits, I bring calm, compassionate nursing care directly into pets’ homes, where they feel safest and most comfortable. I have a special love for senior pets, anxious patients, post-surgery support, and holistic wellness care. I combine professional veterinary nursing with a natural, gentle approach whenever possible, always focusing on the wellbeing of the whole animal. I believe in looking beyond the visible symptoms to help uncover and support the root cause of the condition, while gently supporting the body’s own systems and natural ability to heal itself.
Every pet means the world to somebody. Behind every wagging tail or cautious cat is a family full of love. Being trusted with that bond is something I never take lightly. 🐾
